AGL Sierra Leone Celebrates Labour Day in Honor of Its Workforce

Africa Global Logistics (AGL) Sierra Leone proudly celebrated Labour Day with a dedicated internal event recognizing the hard work, resilience, and dedication of its employees. While the official national observance took place on May 1st, with AGL SL represented by its Human Resources department at the Youyi Building, the company chose May 2nd for its own celebration to ensure all staff could participate.

The event underscored AGL’s ongoing commitment to honoring the efforts of its workforce and reinforcing the importance of employee welfare and labour rights. It was a day filled with appreciation, inspiration, and reflection on the vital contributions of AGL staff to the company’s success and the broader logistics sector in Africa.

Distinguished guest speakers from key labour institutions graced the event, including Mr. Kobi Walker from the Sierra Leone Employers Federation, Mr. Joseph During from the Ministry of Labour, and Mr. Ferdinand Valentine representing the Sierra Leone Dock Workers Union. They delivered powerful messages on topics such as workplace safety, professional development, workers’ rights, and the evolving role of labour in Sierra Leone’s economic growth.

In his address, AGL Sierra Leone General Manager, Mr. Maroun Abi-Aad, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the employees:

“On the occasion of International Labour Day, I want to take a moment to express my deepest appreciation to each and every one of you. Your hard work, dedication, and professionalism are the driving forces behind our company’s success. It is your daily efforts, whether seen or unseen, that keep our operations running and help us move forward, even through challenging times. Labour Day is not just a day off—it is a day to recognize your contributions and to celebrate the value of honest work.”

Beyond celebration, the event served as a platform for discussion, learning, and inspiration. It reaffirmed AGL Sierra Leone’s commitment to fostering a workplace rooted in dignity, respect, and opportunity. As the company continues to play a pivotal role in logistics and supply chain development across Africa, its people remain at the heart of its mission.
