CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY: INSPIRING INCLUSION

Every year on March 8th, the world observes International Women’s Day as a day to honor women. The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is “Inspire Inclusion,” which advocates for a society devoid of prejudice, discrimination, and bias so that all women and girls can reach their full potential.
Creating situations where everyone feels appreciated, respected, and supported—regardless of gender, race, ethnicity, or background—is the goal of inclusion. It is about appreciating and honoring the range of viewpoints, experiences, and accomplishments that women have to offer society.

This year, in honor of International Women’s Day, Freetown Terminal Limited invited three accomplished women (Dr. Valerie John-Cole, a member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynecology; Binta Kadul, CEO of Binta Kolleh’s Enterprise; and Mary Ann-Kaikai, CEO and creative director of Madam Wokie) to share their success stories and inspire other women. In order to give some balances perspective, Rashid Dumbuya Esq., Executive Director of Legal Link, gave a keynote speech on women’s rights in Sierra Leone, with specific emphasis on the progress our nation has achieved in advancing women’s concerns.
